Meet Jason Hall, founder and passionate owner of Muddy Oak Sporting Dogs in Deep East Texas. Jason is a lifelong waterfowl hunter who has chased ducks across America’s diverse flyways, encountering exceptional gundogs that ignited his true calling: breeding and training world-class sporting companions.

Years of training his own dogs fueled Jason’s drive for excellence. He sought mentorship from renowned professional trainer Rody Best of Team Waterdog & Best Retrievers—a celebrated expert in retriever training and competition. Under Rody’s guidance, Jason mastered advanced techniques, transforming puppies into elite competitors ready for prestigious events like the HRC Grand and AKC Master Nationals. He also delved deep into pedigrees and genetics, building a selective breeding program that prioritizes health, temperament, and performance.

Jason’s passion expanded when he discovered field-bred English Cocker Spaniels. These compact, high-drive flushers captivated him with their merry personalities, relentless energy, and uncanny ability to quarter cover and explode birds into flight. Their mischievous charm and bird-finding prowess opened a new world of upland hunting, perfectly complementing his waterfowl roots.
